The Walking Dead – TV Show – Update

Variety reports that Teachers actor Andrew Lincoln has secured the part of Rick Grimes in the forthcoming AMC TV adaptation of The Walking Dead.
Personally we don’t see it but, having caught the odd episode of Teachers, Lincoln’s casting doesn’t have us overly worried. A bit of stubble and a wig (his hair is stupid curly) and he could make a good Rick.
Jon Bernthal has also been cast as Rick’s partner on the force, Shane.
AMC has currently only commissioned 6 episodes to premiere in October for AMC’s Fearfest, but it’s fairly common practise with many new properties only getting a short half season before going on to further full length seasons.
In case you’re still worried that you’ll not see enough of The Walking Dead on the small screen it’s worth noting that all episodes were commissioned without the need for a pilot based on the strength of Frank Darabont’s initial script. It’s not yet known how much of the story will be told in this first arc.
With the pilot set to shoot in June we’ll bring you more information as we get it.

Also, before it’s too old, we strongly approve of AMC greenlighting six Walking Dead episodes and casting Rick. http://bit.ly/aUHuIj
