California’s Berkeley To Run Zombie University Course

12 Jan
California’s Berkeley To Run Zombie University Course

Finally, a course that’s actually worth studying! The University of California’s Berkeley have a zombie class beginning on the 27th of this month for students to enrol in. Competition is fierce with over 100 applicants to fill just 25 spaces.

The program is run by DeCal –

a student-run democratic education program at the UC Berkeley – here, students create and facilitate their own classes on a variety of (often unorthodox) subjects.

Required reading for the course is The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks (of course) and they’ll be watching numerous zombie films throughout the course before discussing the themes such as ‘class warfare’ in Land of the Dead, ‘media’ in Diary of the Dead and more important topics like ‘zombie or not zombie’ in 28 Days Later.

The most interesting part though is the practical

Final Examination – You will be responsible for a practical final exam on the last day of instruction, the format of which will be determined by the facilitators. It will draw on your cumulative knowledge of the materials covered over the course of the semester.

Does this mean that UC Berkeley will be letting zombies loose on campus for the students to deal with? If so, I hope they’ve studied!

Full details and syllabus can be downloaded from the site and if you fancy enrolling you better be the biggest zombie enthusiast on the planet to still stand a chance of getting in.

Now… where’s our application form.

Resident Evil Motorbike Has Tenuous Link At Best

Resident Evil Motorbike Has Tenuous Link At Best

Hollywood Inc & Savage Cycles are heading up the official Resident Evil Chopper project for Capcom Entertainment. The Resident Evil chopper is being built by Savage Cycles in Frostburg, MD and is set to commemorate the highly successful Resident Evil franchise which has spawned over 7 game titles and 4 feature films.

The Resident Evil Chopper will be featured in the Hollywood Inc production “Hollywood Choppers” and will be unveiled to the public at the Capcom’s CES event at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas NV on Jan 8th. The chopper will then embark on a spring 2010 nationwide tour of various events & appearances.

Now, while the bike will undoubtedly be a pretty cool ride, calling it a ‘Resident Evil’ bike is a bit of a stretch.

Sure, having health spray affixed to the side of the bike is what would probably happen in Resident Evil, but unless you’re going to give me a spray that works, it’s basically a cup holder.

At least this bike was used in the movies…

Capcom In Attendance At Toronto Zombie Walk

There’s a lot of red tape, permits and other requirements to get in place before you can have a 5000 strong zombie walk in the heart of a densely populated city and with only 3 weeks to go it looked like funding to make it happen wouldn’t appear.

Luckily Capcom stepped in to help out.

Film 4 Frightfest – Day 4 Review

3 days in a darkened cinema screen isn’t doing ZC Barry any favours and with less than 6 hours sleep on each of the nights Day 4 is proving a struggle.

With hopes of actual zombies in SALVAGE and the prospect of messed up cinema from HUMAN CENTIPEDE he skips DEAD SNOW as the DVD would come out by the time Frightfest finished.
