Retarded Arts‘ latest iPhone app ‘Zombie School’ was pulled from iPhone Store last week amid claims that it encouraged school shootings. Unfortunately for Retarded Arts it was actually themselves that stared the controversy!

When coming up with a viral idea for advertising your new zombie shooter, it is probably a good idea to make sure it’s not going to cut off your revenue stream! When Zombie School was released for the iPhone 2 weeks ago, one employee decided to court controversy by comparing the cartoon violence to ‘school shooting’  on the popular discussion board iphoneworld.ca.

The resulting media attention from Examiner.com and TechCrunch (among others) prompted Apple to withdraw the app just one week after it’s release, making it the 2nd game Retarded Arts have failed to get on the iPhone (the first being the same game with different art assets).

The game itself is harmless enough with the cartoon depictions and gameplay being about as far removed from an actual school shooting as possible, bearing in mind it is set in a school and involves shooting things, eh, whatever.
