What happens if the dead comes back to life as an enforcer of law and justice? R.I.P.D. or Rest in Peace Department is a film adaptation of Peter Linkov’s hit comic-book series. The film’s director is Robert Schwentke and will star Ryan Reynolds as the lead character. It is set for a worldwide release on 2013.

The story starts when Nick Walker (played by Ryan Reynolds) is shot to death by an unknown assailant. Walker then wakes up into the afterlife where he discovers that some dead people do not cross to the light, but remains on earth to do certain things.  He is recruited as a part of an elite Police force called R.I.P.D which hunts the undead hiding and creating havoc in some areas of the earth.

Walker is paired with Bo Pulsipher, an 1800s lawman and together, they track zombies and clean the world by arresting the undead. A twist comes in the story when Walker is assigned in the city of Chicago where he lived as a normal person before. However, Nick Walker faces a challenge because the rules imposed by R.I.P.D states that elite officers like him should never interact to people he knew during his past life.

The Film will also star Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Mary Louise Parker, Robert Knepper, Stephanie Szostak, James Hong, Marisa Miller, and others. Produced by Keith Goldberg, Peter Lenkov, Neal Moritz, and Mike Richardson, the film will be distributed by Universal Pictures on July 19, 2013. Considered by some as partly inspired by M.I.B: Men in Black and the Ghost Busters, R.I.P.D. will surely be a big hit with its spectacular cast, action-packed scenes, thrill, and adventure.
