Grab your 3D glasses and watch this!

WHEN YOU LIVE IN HELL, DEATH IS PART OF THE SCENERY…

Sam Spade in the world of Dawn of the Dead

Set in a post-apocalyptic near future, DeadTown follows the exploits of Chan who lost his family in the zombie plague, and now works as a private detective in a world over-run by the undead.

Those with the means live “Upstairs”, in skyscrapers specially designed to separate them from the infested street level; everyone else is “Downstairs”. The survivors struggle to carve out a life with the constant threat of zombies hanging over them.

Depicted in a rich black and white style, DeadTown combines a classic film noir sensibility with the zombie horror genre, in an edgy re-imagining of the hard boiled detective thriller.

This is one of a number of 2D and 3D motion comics from M2 and is a fantastic new(ish) medium that we’ve never seen done in 3D before.

<del datetime="2010-07-21T19:39:49+00:00">We’re excited and will be keeping you up to date as soon as we find out more.</del>

Update: After a quick look around it seems as if the guys at M2 are looking for funding to get this project completed over on Kickstarter. If you like the look of it head on over and donate although with only 3 days to go and over $19,000 to be raised, it doesn’t look as though this one will go ahead.

Robert Kikman’s The Walking Dead could (and it’s not yet final, though it is looking good) be coming to a small screen near you soon.

Frank Darabont, Director and Producer of 2007′s The Mist among other things, is in the very late stages of talks to bring The Walking Dead to TV. Gale Anne Hurd, who has some pretty mediocre movies to her name but will always be forgive for producing Tremors (and T2), and David Alpert (never heard of him, enlighten me in the comments as I’m too lazy to go to IMDb) are also on board as Executive Producers.

Now, if you don’t know why this is exciting I suggest you immediately educate yourselves and join us in a happy dance.

The story centres on a rotating cast of characters (read: zombies kill people, also, spoilers) and a fairly realistic depection of surviving in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world. As you can imagine this comic is bread and butter around Zombie Command HQ.

With talks of Jericho maybe coming back to the screens and this on the cards next year looks like a great year for post-apocalyptic TV.

His latest blog post reveals some of the frustrations faced when creating a comic where the characters weren’t available for in game screen captures and what he would have done if given the opportunity.

Left 4 Dumb captured some of the quintessential flaws in the writing and level design of Left 4 Dead and expressed them in a comic manner so that even those who haven’t played the game would get why they were funny.

If you’ve not read them I recommend that you go back through a few starting here. I’ll leave you with one of my favourites.

While some of the science may have been a bit flawed in the original, the stories of encounters at the end and his World War Z were great reads. Now he’s taking new stories and turning them into a graphic novel, although how graphic remains to be seen.

Man has battled the undead for millenia. In The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks bestselling author and “Studs Terkel of zombie journalism,” Max Brooks provides the lessons that history has taught us about zombie outbreaks. This is not a list of all zombie attacks throughout history, but a chronicling of the most famous outbreaks, gruesomely illustrated in graphic novel form.

From our descendants on the African savannahs to the legions of ancient Rome to the voyages of Francis Drake to the ill-advised experiments of the Soviet army, The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attack, takes the reader on a journey across many anni horribilis and hauntingly reminds us how close the living dead have come to destroying humanity.

Recorded Attacks on YouTube have a few pages for you to feast your uninfected eyes on to get a feel for what the book will be like.

Follow this team of zombie hunters as they go though life as survivors of the undead outbreak, earning their keep by collecting salvage, gladly trading the freedom of the wastes for the safety of the Argus Research Campus.

The author and artist, Jenny Romanchuk, gets 1 or 2 pages done a week and is currently almost up to the 200 page mark. All this in addition to in depth character/zombie art and backgrounds, providing an incredibly rich reference world.

Pre-orders for the book will contain chapters 1-4 (with many early comics including updated art) as well as concept art, character analysis and other exclusive information and all this for just $25!

For the real fans you can order a $35 edition which also comes with a unique hand drawn sketch by Jenny, which is well worth the extra $10 if you ask me.

All pre-orders receive a signed edition of the book but if you just want to read the great story then they’re all available online now.
