Part 2 of the 4 part Left 4 Dead comic is now up on the official L4D Blog and things aren’t getting any better for our survivors.

Starting to flesh out the back stories of the characters and world the new DLC had better live up to the promise of finally doing more than just shooting zombies. Not that we don’t enjoy it.

As you may or may not know, Tor have just finished doing a zombie week and one of the best things that came out of it (and there was lots of good stuff) was the comic, Dear Melissa.

This short 9 page comic re-humanises zombies (but if you see them, still shoot them) and is well worth a look.

Valve have just released part 1 of their 4 part Left 4 Dead comic, The Sacrifice.

Featuring the 4 members of the original game (Zoey, Francis, Bill and Louis), The Sacrifice is building up to new DLC of the same name and from the looks of it, Bill’s not going to get out of this one unscathed!

Sam Spade in the world of Dawn of the Dead

Set in a post-apocalyptic near future, DeadTown follows the exploits of Chan who lost his family in the zombie plague, and now works as a private detective in a world over-run by the undead.

Those with the means live “Upstairs”, in skyscrapers specially designed to separate them from the infested street level; everyone else is “Downstairs”. The survivors struggle to carve out a life with the constant threat of zombies hanging over them.

Depicted in a rich black and white style, DeadTown combines a classic film noir sensibility with the zombie horror genre, in an edgy re-imagining of the hard boiled detective thriller.

This is one of a number of 2D and 3D motion comics from M2 and is a fantastic new(ish) medium that we’ve never seen done in 3D before.

We’re excited and will be keeping you up to date as soon as we find out more.

Update: After a quick look around it seems as if the guys at M2 are looking for funding to get this project completed over on Kickstarter. If you like the look of it head on over and donate although with only 3 days to go and over $19,000 to be raised, it doesn’t look as though this one will go ahead.

Comic publishers Boom! Studios have released Zombie Tales Volume #1 for free online.

The best-selling zombie anthology finally gets collected, featuring work from the best of the best: material written by Mark Waid, Keith Giffen, Eureka creator Andrew Cosby, Transformers the Movie writer John Rogers, Eureka TV show writer Johanna Stokes, Fall of Cthulhu writer Michael Alan Nelson, and more! Well worth a read (and normally $15 to buy) this online version is made better by commentary on every panel by publisher Ross Richie. Go check it out now.

Much like Zombie Iron Man Riding A Giant Ealge before it, comic book covers featuring zombies are awesome.

This one features Triple H, The Undertaker (appropriately) and John Cena wrestling zombies (oh and some of them are also demon leopard men). I don’t know why and frankly I don’t care (but I’m led to believe the comics feature Wrestlemania set against historical (ly inaccurate) settings).

’nuff said.

Set between 28 Days and 28 Weeks, the comics will focus on what happened to Selena after 28 Days Later and it’s safe to assume that it wasn’t that she lived happily ever after.

Robert Kikman’s The Walking Dead could (and it’s not yet final, though it is looking good) be coming to a small screen near you soon.

Frank Darabont, Director and Producer of 2007′s The Mist among other things, is in the very late stages of talks to bring The Walking Dead to TV. Gale Anne Hurd, who has some pretty mediocre movies to her name but will always be forgive for producing Tremors (and T2), and David Alpert (never heard of him, enlighten me in the comments as I’m too lazy to go to IMDb) are also on board as Executive Producers.

Now, if you don’t know why this is exciting I suggest you immediately educate yourselves and join us in a happy dance.

The story centres on a rotating cast of characters (read: zombies kill people, also, spoilers) and a fairly realistic depection of surviving in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world. As you can imagine this comic is bread and butter around Zombie Command HQ.

With talks of Jericho maybe coming back to the screens and this on the cards next year looks like a great year for post-apocalyptic TV.
