Another Day Of The Dead Remake – This Time In 3D

According to a story written by Variety, there may be a chance we’ll see yet another Day of the Dead remake courtesy of Taurus Entertainment, only this time it’s in 3D!
Some may remember the company best for creating Day of the Dead 2: Contagion and the 2008 Day of the Dead remake. Luckily, they haven’t done damage to the genre elsewhere!
The article discussed the need to go 3D from interviews at the Cannes Film Festival, where James Dudelson talked on the progress of the remake.
“Producer James Dudelson of horror-focused Taurus Entertainment, is currently producing a remake of George A. Romero’s “Day of the Dead” in 3D and said many buyers have requested 3D conversions of classic 2D movies because “3D works well for certain genres, like horror.” But, he cautioned, “You can’t just slap a 3D conversion on the wrong type of film.”
Considering the most recent remake of the film was in 2008, I’d guess the film would be a sequel rather than a complete remake. As Taurus’ only ‘name’ franchise this looks to be a money grab while the 3d iron is still hot; oh how we wish Romero could get the rights back to his films.
Very few remakes are as well received as the original and those that are tend to be because the remakes improved on the old technology that was available. 3D isn’t necessarily an improvement on classic 2D techniques and, if applied with the same level of competence and care as the CGI from the 2008 remake, will end up becoming a film that should be titled “Dismay of the Dead”.
