A level where the enemies are hungry zombies and the only way to survive is to search for supplies located in certain spots, use war tactics, and be extremely brave to survive the zombie-infested world.

 

Developed by Bohemia Interactive, Day Z is designed by Dean “Rocket” Hall. It is released on the 31st of October, 2012 and can be played through the Microsoft Windows platform. The game became very popular reaching millions of players after its release, making it the most popular and the best zombie game in history, according to experts.

 

Set in a fictional post-Soviet town named Chernarus, the game allows the players to feel what it takes to be in a zombie apocalypse by incorporating human feelings and sensations and environment’s effects to their characters in the game. The characters can have wounds, fractures, and broken bones and can feel hunger, pain, and thirst. The players need to survive by protecting themselves from the zombies and other threats such as rival players. Players need to search for food and other supplies, use certain tactics, and look for better weapons while combating zombies and other players in order to survive.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth

The Forests of Hands and Teeth, written by Carrie Ryan is another work of fiction set in a dystopian society that is on production for its 2013 film release. The story centres on a girl named Mary living in a protected village amidst a forest filled with zombies.

 

The village enclosed by fences is ruled by the sisterhood of guardians, a matriarchal power force that imposes rules, protects the people, and upholds religion and tradition. The village is believed to be the only human settlement around the world after a massive plague that turned most of humankind’s population into zombies. The sisterhood has a strict system which ensures the preservation of humankind. Men are given the opportunity to choose their brides, and sadly for Mary, the brother of the man whom she is in love chooses her to be his bride.

 

Mary always dreams of the world outside. Growing up, her mother tells her stories of the world out there, the beautiful oceans and seas located far away from the forest where her village is located. One day, her mother is bitten by a zombie in the forest because she always roams the area searching for Mary’s lost father. The Sisterhood has a rule that every person bitten by a zombie has two options: to be killed or be banished to the forest. Mary’s mother chose the latter knowing that she will find her husband out there.

 

The story talks about social control, love, adventure, fantasy, bravery, survival, and sacrifice. Unlike other zombie-themed novels which deal on horror and adventure, “The Forest of Hands and Teeth” is an excellent tale of fantasy that will surely stir the imaginations of readers around the world.

What if the Nazi’s won the war? What if Hitler conquered the entire world?These are just few of the questions that plagued a lot of people when stories of World War Two come inside their minds. The horrors of the war are eternally inscribed in history, but what will be more horrifying than adding a fictional twist to the stories of the past that makes them more dark, deadly, and doomed?

 

What if instead of humans, Hitler used zombies in order to fight the war? Imagine the horror experienced by Allied forces! The Fourth Reich, an upcoming movie that will be shown on 2013 will show a fictional story set in world war two where the Nazi used zombies to fight the allied forces. Directed by Shaun Robert Smith, the film is produced by James Edward Barker, Michael Bassett, Scott Mann, and Kevin Scott Frakes, starring Sean Bean, Sean Pertwee, Doug Bradley, Craig Cornway, and Tom Savini as the brave soldiers fighting the undead.

 

The story will take place in Western Europe in the dark hours of June 1944 when the combined forces of the Allied countries are nearly facing victory by pushing their way to Berlin in order to stop Hitler’s reign of terror. Afraid of losing the war, the Nazi leader ordered his head scientist, Dr. Joseph Mengele to create an invincible army that will help him reach his goal for global domination. The horrors of Hitler’s fourth reich will be discovered when a group of third infantry soldiers discover an abandoned facility where Hitler’s doomed forces are located.

Outpost: Deuce and the Zombies

Deuce’s adventure and battle against zombies continues in “Outpost,” sequel to Ann Aguirre’s phenomenal novel “Enclave” from the Razorland Trilogy. In “enclave,” readers are introduced in a post-apocalyptic world where humans live underground in order to protect themselves from the attack of hungry zombies. On the other hand, “Outpost” is set in an abode above the ground named “salvation.”

 

Together with her friends Fade, Stalker, and Tegan, Deuce now lives in the salvation where Religion plays a very important role in the lives of the people. Stratification between the two genders is imposed in the settlement where men and women are required to wear clothes appropriate for their gender. Deuce finds herself hard to fit-in since she prefers to wear warrior clothes and desires to join the army protecting the settlement from the zombies.

 

Since Fade keeps himself distant from Deuce, she decidesto join the summer patrol in order to make herself busy. The patrol protects the people working in the field from any zombie attack. As the raid of zombies becomes more frequent, Deuce’s romance between Fade and Stalker becomes more complicated.

 

Feeling comfortable with her new family, Deuce promised to do whatever it takes in order to save and protect the settlement from the freaks (as what they call the zombies) as they evolve into smarter, fiercer, stronger, and more human-like. In the end, despite the gender oppression she suffered from the rules in the settlement, Deuce used all her best skills in order to protect her friends and the new people she learned to love.

Battling the Undead

It’s like Hunger Games, but bloodier, scarier, and funnier. Kirsty McKay’s novel entitled “Undead” is one of the best zombie stories of 2012. Published by Scholastic Inc. and Chicken House in September 1, 2012, the book tells the adventures of the protagonist named Bobby. The teen heroine faces several problems such as adjusting in a new school, issues such as parent problems, peer-pressure, academic stress, puberty, and lastly, zombies.

 

The thrilling part unfolds when the students go to a school trip in Scotland. When the bus stops at certain restaurant for lunch, Bobby and the notorious bad boy named Smitty remains in the vehicle because they feel that they don’t belong to the group. Hours pass, but the other students are not yet back in the bus. Nervous, Bobby and Smitty check what is happening only to witness that the students were changed into monsters, zombies.

 

Few survived the zombie transformation caused by the Carrot Man Veggie Juice. Only Bobby, Smitty the bad boy, Alice the beauty Queen, Pete, and two others remain humans in a remote place filled with hungry zombies ready to devour flesh and eat brains. The survivors struggle to fight for their lives, fight the zombies, and return home safe. What started as a school trip turned out to be a gladiator fight filled with blood, brains, and more blood.

 

As the novel unfolds, readers will be transported into a snowy world filled with horror, comedy, and romance. The climax of the story set inside a castle will surely thrill the readers, making them beg for more of Bobby’s adventures that will be continued on Undead’s sequel entitled “Unfed.”
